Place-Based Learning

Education Boothbay is thrilled to launch a series celebrating the achievements of our Boothbay Region students, educators, and alumni. Our first film spotlights Place-Based Learning, a teaching method that uses the local community and environment as a starting point for learning. Where better to apply that method than here?

This initiative is one of the many ways Education Boothbay advances innovation, enhances education, and empowers students to achieve their full potential. Read more>

SHAPING LIVES

Education Boothbay’s mission is to enrich the educational experiences of students and teachers in ways that cannot usually be addressed through traditional methods of funding.

Through innovative resources and tools, we help students learn skills to be successful in their future careers.

As a 501(c)3 organization, Education Boothbay offers an opportunity for the community to make a tax-free donation to support and strengthen our schools.

Health Initiative

We are very proud to have our very own Principal Campbell and Medical Assistant Sara Watts featured as a part of this School based health initiative from Lincoln Health. LincolnHealth’s School-Based Health Centers bring medical and behavioral health services into community schools to keep students and staff healthy. it’s yet another cool program offered at BRHS!

TODAY’S STUDENTS - TOMORROW’S LEADERS

Education Boothbay started as the Boothbay Region Education Foundation (BREF), a 501(c)(3) organization that has been enriching the education opportunities in the Boothbay region for years. In 2020 the Board of Trustees rebranded BREF as Education Boothbay, but our by-laws, and mission to enhance educational opportunities for students in the Boothbay region remains unchanged.

MOORE MUSIC LEGACY PARTNERSHIP

STEVE EDWARDS/Boothbay Register

Education Boothbay began with a clear purpose: to enrich the educational journey of students across our region. Leadership donors like the Moore Music Legacy Fund bring this mission to life, creating lasting opportunities for students and the broader community. The Moore family established the fund to honor Jay and Doug Moore, championing a lifelong love of music.

Since joining forces with Education Boothbay in 2021, the fund has expanded its reach. One standout success? A $2,805 grant that covered royalty fees for Boothbay Region High School’s musicals, “The Marvelous Wonderettes” and “Newsies.” These productions gave students hands-on experience in the arts and brought the community together in celebration of their talent.

This is just one example of how Education Boothbay empowers students while strengthening community bonds. Read More

Student skiff highlights hands-on education

How many high schoolers can say they have built a boat? Probably not many unless they have taken a course from Chip Schwehm.

Schwehm runs a program at Boothbay Region High School (BRHS) teaching students how to build a boat by hand. Their last project, a 12-foot skiff, was recently auctioned off and the proceeds went to benefit local education. The boat sold at a silent auction in September for $2,500 after being on display at Boothbay Region YMCA. Of the proceeds, $1,200 went to cover the cost of materials. The rest went to Education Boothbay, which supports local teachers and students and helped set up the auction. Schwehm said the organization has been a big supporter of the school’s programs, and donated the workshop’s CNC router and other technology. Read Full Story
